Job descriptionVerifies lot and part identification. Loads castings into shotblast cabinet; adjusts air pressure. Operates the sandblast machine from outside the sandblast cabinet. Sandblasts parts in cabinet by directing hand-held nozzles; uses different sized pipes and nozzles depending on part. Visually inspects sandblast parts to verify removal of materials and uniform color of parts. Operates rotoblast machine; puts parts in machine and turns on. Parts Polishing Reviews part Technique Card for operation. Sets up and loads fixtures and / or parts onto table or machine. Places chemicals into fixture and adds compound and / or water as needed. Inputs cycle times into control panel (of the abrasive flow machine); operates machines. Maintenance and Cleaning Performs minor equipment maintenance including changing hoses and nozzles. Cleans work area. Adds sand to machine as needed. Safety Adheres to plant and department safety rules. Safely operates all equipment and tools. Identifies and reports safety problems. Meets all production and quality standards. Performs other tasks as directed. sandblaster Abrasive Flow Machine Vibratory Machine Rotoblast Machine forklift basic hand tools (e.g. hammers wrenches saws etc.) hoist pallet jack Training is provided on the job. PCCs Forklift Driving Safety Training must be completed. Ability to read follow and interpret instructions on Technique Cards. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (addition subtraction multiplication division) Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
MISSION :
To clean the surface of castings using forced air-propelled sand. To prepare surfaces for inspection and / or grinding.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Sandblast Operations
Objective : to remove shell scale grinding marks and other material from castings.
Essential Job Functions :
(This is a marginal job function in Dept. 106.)
Objective : to polish the surface of small parts castings using vibratory and abrasive flow machines to meet customer and PCC specifications.

Objective : to maintain equipment in good working order and maintain a clean work area.
