Job Description

Position Title : Senior Estimator

Transition path to Chief Estimator / Vice President as the current VP approaches retirement.

As a Senior Estimator , you’ll lead turnkey site development estimating, focusing on earthwork and utilities while supporting overall project planning and management. From the first conversation to groundbreaking, your expertise ensures every project begins with precision, clarity, and confidence.

This role is about more than numbers — it’s about solving problems, building trust, and delivering accurate, actionable estimates that set projects up for success. You’ll work closely with leadership across Pre-Construction, Field Operations, and Project Management to produce bids that win work and strengthen the company’s reputation for quality and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid instructions to define scope and develop accurate estimates.
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Use AgTek and Heavy Bid for takeoffs, volume calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to define scopes, evaluate bids, and close pricing gaps.
  • Research materials, methods, equipment, and labor to ensure cost efficiency and safety.
  • Develop detailed bid proposals, including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
  • Maintain client relationships through proactive communication and negotiation.
  • Support leadership with budgets, schedules, and change orders to keep projects on track.

What You Bring

  • 6–10 years of proven experience in earthwork and utilities estimating .
  • Strong proficiency in Heavy Bid , AgTek , Excel , and Word .
  • Ability to interpret complex plans, specifications, and project documents.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-starter mindset with sound judgment and collaborative approach.
  • Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management , Civil Engineering , or related field.
  • CPE designation (ASPE) and OSHA 30-hour certification a plus.
