Engineering Manager - Stormwater / Flood

BKF is looking for an Engineering Manager or Project Manager to be a key contributor to our Stormwater / Flood practice as we grow our Water Resources business sector through organic growth and acquisitions. This position is equivalent to a Senior or Principal Engineer level at similar consulting firms and represents experience at / beyond the mid-level in technical expertise, design, project planning, project engineering, management, client relations and / or business development.  Depending on interest and experience, this role could grow into a technical leadership or other leadership role within Water Resources at BKF.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

• Serve as the project manager for stormwater treatment, conveyance, site civil, and environmental design projects.
• Serve as task manager on larger planning, design, and construction projects.
• Oversee the development, maintenance, and review of Stormwater Management Plans (SWMPs / SWPPPs).
• Oversee the development, maintenance, and review of hydrology and hydraulic reports
• Perform complex engineering tasks including engineering designs, preparing reports, construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for storm drainage systems.
• Review product designs and drawings for compliance with engineering principles, agency standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Prepare stormwater master plans, studies, and technical memoranda that concisely communicate technical and non-technical analyses and conclusions
• Develop proposals, budgets and schedules for selected engineering efforts.
• Meet with clients to determine recommended project scope, estimate staffing requirements, and fee for review and prepare for signature.
• Develop and maintain client contact before, during, and after project completion.
• Cultivate client relationships through industry groups and by direct contract.
• Maintain three-month workload projections for all projects under personal management.
• Work closely with other engineers and managers to balance workload demands amongst current staff.
• Provide mentoring and training to Design and Project Engineers.
• Prepare and conduct technical review of staff, reports, correspondence, calculations and prepare technical recommendations.
• Plan, organize and supervise work of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Prepare opinions of probable cost and construction schedules / sequencing on current and new designs.

Requirements

Preferred Education and / or Experience

Physical Demands :

Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull / push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions :

Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.  Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.
