General job duties. Types of procedures required.
Care of OB triage, labor & delivery, postpartum, well-newborn and special care nursery (IV, antibiotics, short-term respiratory support - CPAP or O2) and GYN surgical patient
Equipment utilized in the unit / dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
EPIC computer charting, OBIX with central monitoring for fetal monitor strips; Acudose med dispensing cabinet
Required skills and minimum years of experience.
Minimum 2 years experience - interpretation of fetal monitor strips; attendance at vaginal delivery, immediate care and resuscitation of newborn
Specific licensures and certifications / registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
BLS, ACLS, NRP
Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
2 OB trained staff in house at all times; 8 or 12 hour weekday shifts; Weekends required - 2 out of 3 weekends- weekend shifts are Fri / Sat / Sun 7a-730p or 7p-730a
Floating to over units / departments. (If so, to which units / departments?)
Primarily hours in Women's Center dept; float to General Medical unit if census low in OB
Bed size / number of rooms for this unit / dept.
12 bed unit - 2 triage, 5 LRDP, 5 overflow postpartum / gyn surgical
Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
1 : 2-3 mom / baby couplets; 1 : 2 early labor, 1 : 1 active labor, 1 : 3 post-op,
Dress Code :
Hospital washed scrubs provided

New hire safety program checklist, includes emergency management cases. Competency skills for equipment. One Chart training. 2-3 days total orientation to the unit, depending upon experience.
