Position Summary : The Preconstruction Manager at Parks Custom Cabinets is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all pre-production activities, ensuring projects are fully prepared for a smooth handoff to manufacturing. This role provides direct management over the Purchasing and Engineering teams for both residential and commercial cabinetry projects. With a sharp eye for detail and very strong management skills, the Preconstruction Manager ensures material readiness, engineering accuracy, and cash flow alignment while working closely with Project Managers, Accounting, and Production to keep operations on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Department Oversight : Directly manage the Purchasing and Engineering departments, ensuring seamless coordination between material procurement, technical drawings, and production deadlines.
  • Lead and mentor team members with strong communication and organizational skills, promoting accountability and efficiency.
  • Job Readiness Review : Review new jobs after sales approval to verify documentation, material lists, and engineering needs are complete and accurate.
  • Material Verification & Coordination : Oversee collaboration between the Purchasing Agent and Receiving Agent to confirm all materials are available and verified before the production start date.
  • Engineering Coordination : Ensure all engineering work is completed, reviewed, and approved prior to fabrication. Address and resolve design issues early in the process.
  • Weekly Job Monitoring : Conduct weekly reviews of all in-progress and upcoming jobs to confirm production is fully supported with materials, drawings, and approvals.
  • Production Support : Act as a bridge between Preconstruction and the shop floor, ensuring that all necessary information is in place for on-time, high-quality cabinet builds.
  • Financial & Cash Flow Awareness : Collaborate closely with Accounting to align purchasing activities with job budgets and company cash flow goals.
  • Cross-Department Communication : Coordinate with Sales, Project Managers, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production to maintain consistent and clear project visibility across all phases.
  • Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to improve preconstruction processes, reduce errors, and accelerate turnaround times from sale to production.

Qualifications

Strong leadership and team management experience is required. Minimum 3 years in construction, cabinetry, or operations roles including direct oversight of engineering or purchasing functions. Proficient knowledge of cabinet manufacturing processes, materials, and project workflows. Experience in both residential and commercial construction environments preferred. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings. Strong skills in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and project coordination software. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and lead cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions : Primary Location : Parks Custom Cabinets 7454 S Highway 28, Chelsea, OK On-site presence required for coordination with production, receiving, and project teams. Occasional job site visits or vendor meetings may be necessary.
