SOS Children's Villages USA is seeking an intern to support its Individual Giving team-equipping you with firsthand development experience at an international NGO. The Individual Giving team works to raise awareness and funds to fulfill SOS Children's Villages' global mission : to provide family-like care and loving homes for children and young people without adequate parental care, to strengthen families to prevent separation and to support a successful transition into adulthood so young people have everything they need to become their strongest selves.

Tasks / projects

As the intern supporting this team, you will gain firsthand development experience at an international NGO and have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including but not limited to :

• Conduct research to identify potential high-value donor leads or strategic partnership opportunities.
• Assist in gathering market intelligence and trends in philanthropy to inform new business development strategies.
• Collaborate with Individual Giving and Marketing teams to provide valuable donor insights, refine messaging, and enhance campaign effectiveness based on direct donor feedback.
• Initiate outbound calls to active and lapsed donors to build relationships, share the organization's mission, and solicit financial contributions.
• Engage current sponsors and monthly donors to deepen their commitment, presenting opportunities to upgrade their monthly giving levels and convert one-time donors into recurring supporters.
• Clearly articulate the impact of donations, effectively communicating specific needs and success stories to inspire donor commitment.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of donor interactions and pledges, ensuring timely follow-up and fulfillment of commitments.
• Commit to SOS Children's Villages International's Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy to maintain organization-wide values and prioritize the protection of children in all circumstances ( Safeguarding children - SOS Children's Villages International (sos-childrensvillages.org )).

Skills and further information

Exceptional communication, active listening and interpersonal skills are required, along with a consistently positive and professional demeanor. Candidates must be comfortable speaking on the phone.
