Managing Consultant – Acoustical & Environmental Noise
California, USA (San Francisco, Novato, Oakland, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Irvine)
We are looking for an experienced acoustical managing consultant who will play a key role in project management, business development, client interaction, and technical leadership. The position is fully remote within California and will involve both field and office work as required.
Responsibilities
Manage acoustical consulting projects and client relationships.
Develop and implement project execution approaches.
Build business relationships and evaluate market conditions.
Lead teams to deliver innovative acoustical design solutions for complex environmental noise challenges.
Manage technical analyses related to environmental noise surveys, sound‑level analyses, and computer modeling (CadnaA, SoundPlan, or similar).
Prepare reports, proposals, and fee estimates for clients.
Mentor team members and influence the development of their technical and professional skills.
Critically review and interpret local, state, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.
Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in engineering, science, or mathematics.
10+ years of acoustical consulting experience with a focus on environmental noise assessment and 5+ years of experience with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
Practical knowledge of the CEQA environmental review process, including Initial Studies (IS) and Environmental Impact Reports (EIR).
Experience evaluating laws, ordinances, regulations, and standards (LORS) such as California Government Code, municipal codes, General Plan Noise Elements, Caltrans, and California Energy Commission (CEC).
Technical expertise in assessing commercial and industrial noise and vibration, and in developing feasible mitigation measures.
Strong spreadsheet, noise‑modeling, and software tool skills, and ability to apply environmental regulations to real‑world situations.

Salary Transparency
U.S. pay range : $114,000 – $150,000 annually, excluding bonuses, overtime, or additional benefits. Pay within this range varies by work location and may depend on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
