Salary

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

Responsibilities

The essential functions of this role include depository examinations and consumer credit examinations, with oversight responsibilities in larger and more complex institutions. Specific duties include :

  • Perform various examinations conducted on institutions of large size and complexity.
  • Serve as an Examiner-In-Charge (EIC) of Safety and Soundness examinations for the largest institutions and those with weaknesses.
  • Submit examination plans reflecting institution condition and risk profile.
  • Oversee examination staff to ensure appropriate scope and adherence to procedures.
  • Submit timely Reports of Examination that are analytically correct with minimal errors.
  • Make accurate ratings determinations and develop corrective programs with assistance.
  • Develop loan review samples aligned with department goals of identifying credit risks.
  • Serve as the Central Point of Contact (CPC) for the most complex institutions and communicate with staff, regulators, and management.
  • Coordinate on-site visitations and attend board / management exit meetings as necessary.
  • Perform CAMELS ratings and related examinations; evaluate credit risk management systems and adjust scope as needed.

Consumer Credit

  • Perform examination duties related to regulatory compliance with state and federal consumer credit laws and regulations.
  • Examine entities with focus on complex state-chartered depository institutions, lenders, non-lenders, and related licensees.
  • Serve as EIC to evaluate compliance with statutes and regulations.
  • Serve as SME regarding statutes and examination procedures for relevant examinations.
  • Prepare examination reports and present findings to officers and managers.
  • Assist in achieving full regulatory compliance and recommend procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Review work of others and provide constructive feedback to less-tenured examiners.

    What You'll Need For Success

    You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment :

  • Ability to complete agency-specific training programs.
  • Broad knowledge of computer applications, including examination software and related tools.
  • Ability to conduct and prepare examination reports.
  • Ability to identify, apply, and interpret laws, regulations, and policies applicable to assigned areas and examination procedures, including training less experienced examiners.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and records.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise tact and persuasion when dealing with institution managers and staff.
  • Ability to travel within a specified region of the State based on job assignment.
  • In the Depository Division – ability to use Examination Tools Suite (ETS) to develop loan review samples identifying credit risks.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports

    This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
