American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) with a NC or compact license and strong pediatric cardiac ICU skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a 20-bed Pediatric CVICU within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at a teaching hospitalPatient population includes high acuity pediatric patients (ages 0-18) with congenital heart conditions, post-surgical cases, transplant, ECMO, VAD, Impella, and dialysis needsRN to patient ratios vary by acuity : 1 : 1, 1 : 2, or 2 : 1Must be able to float to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as neededNight shift, 12 hours (1900-0700), with a rotation of every other weekend or fewer as needed (Friday through Sunday)Travelers expected to work 75% of holidaysEMR is Epic and experience with Epic is requiredEquipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitorsTraveler’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the home unitDaily responsibilities include managing complex pediatric cardiac cases and advanced cardiac devicesSupport staff includes a daily healthcare tech, unit secretary, charge nurse, resource nurse, and 24 / 7 RT, cardiology, and intensivist coverageCentralized and bedside monitoring used for patient assessmentTwo days departmental orientation provided in addition to general orientationNavy scrubs requiredParking is free on siteUnit values teamwork, trust, and accountabilityFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyTime off requests require manager approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN licenseMinimum 2 years of recent Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similar high-acuity settingCertifications required : BLS, PALS, NIHSSExperience managing fresh open heart post-op pediatric patients including transplant and use of devices such as Aquadex, Impella, and ECMOEpic charting experience requiredAbility and competency to float to PICU will be assessed during interview\n Benefits\n
