Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 27 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown RN with recent PCU / IMC experience and an active NY RN license for a mixed acuity telemetry unit. Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based stepdown / progressive care unit with mixed acuity levels, including PCU and Med-Surg Telemetry patients Patient population includes PCU, MS Telemetry, surgical pre / post, trauma, general and ortho surgery, and overflow medical cases Nights, 4x12 hour shifts from 18 : 45 to 07 : 15; schedules include 36 or 48 hours per week Nurse to patient ratios range from 1 : 3-5 for days and weekends and 1 : 3-6 for nights, depending on acuity Travelers float to sister units including West 2, West 3, and the Observation unit Every other weekend required Documentation and medication systems include EPIC and Pyxis with use of SBAR for communication 12-hour unit orientation provided Job duties focus on complex monitoring, cardiac and surgical patient management, and advanced interventions for mixed acuity populations Must be comfortable floating to multiple units within the hospital as needed All scrubs must be solid color Rare care for pediatric patients, only assigned if experienced RTO requests are capped at 7 days First-time travelers are welcome to apply COVID vaccination may be required per facility policy Return staff may be eligible after one year away Requirements Active NY RN license required Minimum 1 year of recent PCU / IMC nursing experience within the last 3 years Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required EPIC charting experience is required Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility Strong skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, complex line care, blood product administration, wound care, airway management, and surgical patient care Preferred : PALS and TCAR certifications Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-619463.
