JOB SUMMARY : Behavioral Health Specialist must demonstrate the ability to develop

an open, collaborative relationship with patients.  The therapist must be proficient in

the performance of the 12 Core Functions of Counseling and is required to be an

active participant in the programs Continuous Quality Improvement efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Therapist will primarily work mental health groups and carry a small case load as needed.
• Carries a client caseload as assigned.  Responsible for determining the client & participant's

strengths / weaknesses and needs to assist clients in developing a treatment plan

within 7 days of admission.

Clinical Supervisor for his / her review and signature.

Competencies – Therapist will gain knowledge or possess the ability to build a strong

therapeutic alliance with their clients, practice ethical code of conduct including

professionalism, maintain professional boundaries with coworkers and clients, engage

in skill building to develop improved counseling techniques, have knowledge of

counseling theories and DSM V, have or be willing to learn effective time

management, understand the pros and cons of self-disclosure, be punctual and

understand the value of team work.
