Job description

Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to oversee and enhance financial operations for our organization in North Chicago, Illinois. This role requires a meticulous and detail-oriented individual who excels in managing accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and driving accuracy in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and a dedication to maintaining the integrity of financial data.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and reconciliation of the general ledger, ensuring all entries are correct and complete.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including financial statement audits, to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Review and approve journal entries to maintain the accuracy of financial records.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
  • Train and mentor accounting staff, fostering growth and a collaborative work environment.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and streamline accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address financial inquiries and support organizational goals.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting management or supervisory roles, with a focus on month-end processes and general ledger management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement audits and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in performing account reconciliations and handling complex journal entries.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and tools, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
