Safety Professional – Shutdown
Job Summary : At CMI, we are committed to ensuring the highest safety standards on pharmaceutical construction projects. Our Construction Safety Professionals play a key role in implementing best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive safety culture. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with all levels of a construction team.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor, educate, and train staff on safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Foster a positive safety culture by engaging workers, supervisors, and management.
- Be involved in pre-shutdown planning
- Oversight of LOTO for new equipment install
- Attend and actively participate in safety meetings at varying frequencies as required.
- Conduct on-site safety observations and provide recommendations for improved work practices.
- Lead safety initiatives, including pre-task planning, audits, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit processes.
- Facilitate site-specific orientations, training sessions, and toolbox talks to reinforce safety expectations.
- Generate and maintain safety reports as required by project management.
Qualifications and Experience
Ability to work 4pm to 1am, Monday through SaturdayMinimum of 5+ years of direct safety oversight experienceShutdown / Turnaround experience a plusExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and mitigate risksProven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams at all organizational levelsExceptional verbal and written communication skills for training and reportingProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar safety management softwareEducation & Certifications
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (must be obtained within the last 5 years)Degree in Occupational Health & SafetyFirst Aid, CPR, and AED certification requiredPhysical & Other Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on rough or uneven terrainCapable of climbing ladders, stooping, crawling, and bending as requiredAbility to lift up to 30 lbs as part of site inspections or safety equipment handlingFlexibility for overtime and varied work hours based on project demandsResidence within a reasonable commuting distance (no relocation, travel, or per diem provided)Additional Information
