Job description

Position :

Pediatric Medical Assistant :

Medical assistants provide both clinical and administrative support to pediatricians by preparing patients, taking vital signs, collecting specimens, assisting with minor procedures and exams, administering medications, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a comfortable environment for children and their families.

Clinical Duties :

  • Welcome children, make them comfortable, explain procedures in an age-appropriate manner, and prepare them for examinations.
  • Take and record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure) and gather initial medical histories from patients or their parents.
  • Perform procedures such as collecting samples and assisting with other diagnostic tests.
  • Administer injections, vaccinations, and prescribed medications as directed by the physician.
  • Help physicians and nurses during examinations, minor surgeries, and other procedures.
  • Monitor the well-being of patients before, during, and after their examinations.

Administrative Duties :

  • Maintain accurate patient records, organize medical files, and track patient growth records and vaccination schedules.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with instruments and supplies and order medical supplies as needed.
  • Education / Skills / Work Experience :

  • Education : Associate degree in the medical field (preferred but not required), Medical Assistant Certification and / or LPN / RN License
  • Work Experience : Minimum one year work experience including but not limited to administrating vaccines and vitals.
  • Skills : Medical terminology, vaccine administration, taking vitals, basic computer skills, enter data into EMR systems, ability to multitask, customer service skills, answer phones, take and relaying on messages, lift at least 50lbs, stand for prolonged time periods, strong communication skills written and verbal bilingual (preferred but not required)
