Job Title : Licensed Journeyman

Reports To : Lead Communications Technician

Requirements : To be eligible for this role, you must have graduated from a state-approved apprenticeship program. We will require a copy of your graduation certificate prior to the interview.

Job Summary :

The Licensed Journeyman must perform the technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and function as a lead member of a technical team. The Fiber Network Technician will coordinate small groups of installers, ensuring adherence to company safety and quality standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

• Install work area outlets, terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount faceplates and surface mount boxes, adhering to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards.
• Build closets, mount / install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware, and install grounding for racks, equipment, and cables.
• Complete IDC connections, including terminating 110 / 66 blocks and patch panels.
• Perform testing such as continuity tests on horizontal and riser cables, troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs, and use tone sets.
• Identify active voice or data circuits.
• Manage crew performance, provide training, coordinate personnel and timelines to complete projects.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.
• Adhere to all safety and quality standards and participate in related training and compliance measures.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications :

Physical and Mental Requirements :

The candidate must be self-motivated, professional, and able to work at heights, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds. Must have good color vision, hearing, and the ability to read small print. Travel within the territory is required. Regular attendance is mandatory.

Tools :

Screwdriver, drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves, punch tools, tone set, crimp tools.

Education, Certification, and Skills :

High School diploma or GED; minimum 2 years of telecommunications experience; proficiency with listed tools; ability to interpret blueprints and project documents; knowledge of communication color codes; valid driver's license meeting company standards.
