Job description

Adelphi is seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to support classroom instruction and child development activities for students ages 0–5 at a school district in Long Beach, California. The ideal candidate will assist the lead teacher in providing a positive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Requirements :

  • Minimum 6–11 ECE units; Assistant Teacher Permit preferred.
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Mandated Reporter and Integrated Germ Management certifications.
  • Current documentation of TB test, measles, pertussis, COVID-19, and influenza immunizations.
  • Must pass CA DOJ and FBI background check and fingerprint clearance.

    • Responsibilities :

  • Support the lead teacher in daily classroom activities and child supervision.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment.
  • Help implement lesson plans and enrichment activities.
  • Support children’s individual care routines and developmental needs.
  • Observe and report on student behavior, progress, and wellbeing.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, staff, and families.
  • Comply with all district, Head Start, and site policies on safety and conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by classroom leadership.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
