The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As the Application Engineer – Paint finishing Systems (PFS) Portfolio, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leading multiple efforts such translating customer needs into product development goals, developing expertise within the organization, and helping customers implement new products and solutions into the collision repair industry.
- Collaborating with product development teams, channel partners and business teams to provide practical solutions to our customers.
- Creating and implementing customer facing technical collateral and training content.
- Identifying future business opportunities, product improvement needs and issues preventing commercialization.
- Supporting and troubleshooting sales professionals & end-users with new setups.
- Supporting local businesses with new product introductions
- Hands-on product demonstrations for large groups (internal and external training).
- Field testing and new product evaluations.
- Testing & benchmarking the competitive landscape.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
OR
- High School diploma (completed and verified prior to start) and a minimum of 4 years of experience or more in a technically aligned customer focused role in a private, public, government or military environment.
AND
- Current valid driver’s license is required.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science, engineering, or business discipline from an accredited university.
- 2+ years of experience in the collision repair industry.
- Previous experience serving industrial markets such as collision repair, paint industry, manufacturing, OEM, or insurance industry.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office etc.).
- Previous hardware / software experience with automotive calibration & diagnostic equipment
- Previous experience in application engineering, technical service, technical training and/or technical sales.
- Excellent communication & organizational skills (written, verbal, listening and presentation)
- Ability to efficiently analyze, solve problems and implement solutions.
- "Can do/will do" attitude.
- Possess strong & effective "hands-on" demonstration techniques.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work and take individual initiative and responsibility for assignments independently and within a team environment.
- Experience with statistical software is a plus.
- Ability to solve problems and apply new knowledge to practical situations.
Location: St. Paul, Minnesota
Travel: May include up to 35% domestic & international
