  • Campus Supervisor Division :               Operations Reports To :          Lead Campus Supervisor  Status :                 Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Year-Round) Hourly Range :    $30.53 - $31.70 per hour and MWA Benefits Summary  Reporting to the Lead Campus Supervisor and guided by the Deans and the Director of Student Support, the Campus Supervisor fosters a safe and positive school environment for grades 5-12.
  • You'll be a visible safety monitor, proactively engaging with students and families, using de-escalation and clear communication to uphold school rules and support MWA's mission.
  • This position involves daily campus supervision, implementing security procedures, responding to incidents, and building positive relationships with patience and good judgment.
  • This position includes evening and weekend hours, and occasional overtime.

  • School Culture & Student Behavior Enforce school policies and procedures, and intervene in situations that may compromise safety or security.
  • Respond to escalating situations, providing support and guidance, and refer to school administration as needed.
  • Develop strong relationships with students and families, fostering trust and open communication that aligns with MWA's mission and behavioral expectations, and cultivating a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Your empathy and social awareness are crucial for connecting with diverse individuals and understanding their perspectives.
  • Proactively monitor student behavior during school hours, providing general supervision and remaining alert to behavior that may disrupt the educational process or be injurious to persons or property.
  • Be a visible and approachable resource regarding student conduct, conflict resolution, and school culture, facilitating conflict resolution and de-escalation efforts.
  • This requires excellent professionalism and communication skills to articulate school rules clearly and respectfully, even in challenging situations, always prioritizing positive student engagement.
  • Carry out student supervision schedules and assignments, help with events and student transportation, and look for ways to make these systems better.
  • Escort students, staff, and visitors to and from on-campus locations, strictly enforcing student sign-out procedures to prevent unauthorized departures during school hours.
  • Your flexibility and adaptability will be key in managing a dynamic environment.
  • Use basic interventions to handle minor student misbehavior, offering guidance for better choices through informal problem-solving, conflict resolution, quick check-ins, and brief restorative talks with individuals or small groups, following the Lead Campus Supervisor and / or Deans’ instructions.
  • This requires consistent patience and self-control, focusing on teaching and guiding rather than solely enforcing.
  • Communicate effectively with parents / guardians regarding minor student behavioral concerns and partner on creating strategies that support student behavior.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and confidential recording of student behavioral interactions / interventions in designated systems (e.g., Kickboard, PowerSchool).
  • Taking direction well from supervisors and colleagues is essential for consistent and effective operations.

  • Safety & Security through Engagement Ensure a safe, secure, and orderly environment through proactive engagement.
  • Develop rapport and build positive relationships with students and staff to foster trust and a climate of safety, security, and cooperation.
  • Enforce school policies and procedures, and intervene in situations that may compromise safety or security.
  • Serve as a visible and accessible presence on campus.
  • Regularly patrol school grounds, buildings, and parking areas to deter unauthorized activity, access, and / or potential threats.
  • Proactively monitor and prevent unauthorized individuals from being on campus.
  • This requires an assertive yet approachable presence, utilizing your communication skills and calm demeanor rather than overt force.
  • Enforce and implement school safety and security protocols, including emergency response plans, lockdown procedures, and evacuation drills.
  • Execute and adhere to routine school opening and closing procedures and protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies with a focus on de-escalation.
  • Act as a first responder to safety / security-related incidents, medical emergencies, and other critical situations on campus, following established protocols and providing assistance as needed.
  • You must remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions, prioritizing student well-being and a safe resolution.
  • Respond to and manage escalating situations, providing support and guidance, and refer to school administration as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents and safety and / or security-related activities.
  • Provide daily summary reports to the Lead Campus Supervisor.
  • Help to investigate safety and / or security-related incidents, gather information, and prepare detailed and accurate reports (within 24 hours).
  • Serve as a witness in student conferences, disciplinary / legal hearings / proceedings.
  • Work closely with the Lead Campus Supervisor to address safety issues and implement security measures.
  • Be proactive in spotting areas where safety can be enhanced and recommend improvements.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of school safety plans, emergency response protocols, and threat assessment procedures to help us resolve potential problems before they escalate.
  • Assume responsibility for designated projects, e.g., AED compliance, safety drill organization, storage capacity, event coordination, etc.
  • Assist with event support and working with facilities to ensure a well-maintained and secure campus.
  • Mission Alignment Demonstrate knowledge of and support Making Waves Academy’s mission, core values, standards, competencies, and code of conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Participate in the school community – attending school competitions, performances, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
  • Work Environment This job operates in an indoor and outdoor school campus environment.

Physical Demands Required :

  • a level of fitness and mobility that allows the Campus Supervisor to actively patrol the school grounds, respond quickly to incidents, and ensure the safety and security of the school environment.
  • This includes the ability to move frequently throughout the campus, including walking, running (in emergencies), standing for extended periods, and navigating stairs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform tasks such as assisting students, inspecting facilities, and addressing safety concerns.
  • Sufficient vision to monitor student behavior, identify safety hazards, and operate security equipment.
  • Ability to hear and understand conversations, alarms, and other important sounds in a potentially noisy environment.  Qualifications Education and Experience Associate's Degree or some college coursework in psychology, guidance, social work, education, or criminal justice with an emphasis on community relations or youth services desired, and 1+ years of experience working with middle school or high school-aged students in an organized setting (e.g., after-school programs, youth mentorship, coaching, camp counseling, community centers, or previous school support roles).
  • Experience where positive behavior management, conflict resolution, and communication with adolescents were key responsibilities.
  • Must have a demonstrated attitude of service and concern for the wellbeing and safety of others.

  • Licenses or Certificates Employment eligibility will include fingerprints / Live Scan, tuberculosis (TB) screening, and other employment clearance.
  • Current CPR / First Aid / AED, and SB 1626 certification desired.
