Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with floating to Oncology Medical-Surgical units, requiring EPIC charting experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in a locked, corrections PCU within a secure hospital settingFloat as needed to Oncology Medical-Surgical units based on staffingPatient population includes inmates with active oncology diagnoses, oncology workups, post-surgical needs, and various medical conditions such as COPD and sepsisNurse to patient ratios are 1 : 3 for PCU and 1 : 4-5 for Med SurgCO (Corrections Officer) to inmate ratio is 1 : 2Shifts include rotating 12-hour days or nights depending on unit needs, with assignments reviewed every 4 weeksMedication management via Pyxis and documentation using EPIC are requiredResponsibilities include cardiac monitoring, management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, IV therapy, tracheostomy, and non-invasive airway managementOncology experience is preferred but not requiredTraining and support provided by interdisciplinary teams such as pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid responseWork in a locked, secure correctional environment with strict staff safety standardsFingerprinting for Ohio is required and must be completed promptly after bookingLocals are accepted at the same rateFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyHolidays may be scheduled based on unit needsScrub requirements not specifiedRequirements
Active OH or compact RN license required at time of considerationCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification requiredEPIC charting experience requiredExperience in PCU, Medical-Surgical, or Telemetry settings requiredEducation must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited programAt least 2 professional references are required, including 1 from a supervisor or managerPrevious employees must have a 6-month separation to be eligibleCurrent employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are not eligibleBenefits
