Job description

Position Summary : Join our dedicated team as a Cardiac Rehabilitation RN, where you will supervise medically prescribed exercise therapy tailored to patients' age and medical / emotional state. You will play a crucial role in educating patients on the cardiovascular system and heart-healthy lifestyle modifications essential for maintaining optimal health.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide orientation for cardiac and pulmonary patients.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking.
  • Engage in various operational duties including policy maintenance, billing documentation, and gathering statistical data.
  • Develop educational opportunities for departmental staff and contribute to excellent customer service.

Education / Certification Requirements :

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Hold a current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire; must maintain clinical competency during employment.
  • Experience :

  • A minimum of two years of recent acute / emergent care experience is required.
  • Previous experience in Cardiac Care is preferred.
  • Essential Duties :

  • Conduct in-service training for Cardiac Rehab / Stress Lab staff annually.
  • Represent the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department in community programs to raise awareness of heart disease prevention and treatment.
  • Thoroughly assess patients' conditions and care needs; conduct endurance walks.
  • Identify nursing diagnoses and plan individualized, patient-centered care based on comprehensive assessments.
  • Conduct education classes for patients and families, documenting their progress.
  • Monitor patients during exercise sessions, including cardiovascular responses through vital signs and telemetry.
  • Accurately identify cardiac rhythms and initiate appropriate interventions when necessary.
  • Collaborate on cross-site projects for the AACVPR credentialing process.
