Must have knowledge of Diagnostic Radiology, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection.

Description :
The Radiologic Technologist must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs.
The individual must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative.
This role involves providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing assigned exams according to established procedures.
The Technologist must have the knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies properly and safely.
This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipment for diagnosing and / or treating diseases.
The individual must be able to independently perform job functions and prepare the equipment for imaging services.
The Technologist will position patients for procedures and assist with student rotations.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
Obtains complete clinical history and gathers examination data.
Assesses for contraindications prior to procedures.
Follows established procedures for administration of contrast media to avoid patient discomfort and complications.
Ensures proper patient identification and appropriate markers are utilized.
Reviews radiographic images for clinical acceptability and releases patients accordingly.
Responds to emergency situations and maintains stocked life support equipment.
Assists other technologists in different modalities when necessary.
Observes patient conditions and evaluates situations for necessary physician intervention.
Ensures patient's privacy and comfort are prioritized.
Demonstrates competence in determining and applying the appropriate procedures and techniques based on patient age.
Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
Utilizes critical thinking and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
Understands and documents pre-procedural verification and Time Out processes when appropriate.
Maintains competency in venipuncture if applicable.
Equipment :
Demonstrates ability to adjust techniques to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining image quality.
Reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or service provider timely.
Cleans and maintains equipment following infection control policies.
Operates all radiographic equipment safely and competently.
Education and Communication :
Clearly explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation.
Addresses patient questions, concerns, or contraindications satisfactorily.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
Provides patients with preparatory instructions and explanations of procedures.
Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and uses precise terminology.
Completes all mandatory departmental and education training without prompting.
Quality Control :
Consistently produces high-quality images ensuring appropriate collimation, shielding, and technique selection.
Checks equipment operational status prior to each use.
Submits all studies to the designated system and ensures proper labeling before sending.
Operations :
Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of work areas.
Transports and positions patients for procedures.
Handles patient charging activities accurately on service days.
Applies shielding and supportive devices appropriately.
Lends knowledge and assistance to colleagues as needed.
Performs clerical and support tasks as necessary to ensure quality service.
Keeps supervisors informed of responsibilities and notifies them of any issues promptly.
Maintains productivity standards comparable to coworkers.
Follows all regulatory standards consistently.
Can transfer or retrieve images on the system effectively.
Takes call when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
