About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

License : Valid nursing license required

Certifications : BLS required; experience with Bed Side Shift Reporting (BSSR) is preferred

Must-Have : Experience with bowel resections, bariatric surgery, tracheostomy care, and epidural infusion

Description :

Bed Side Shift Reporting, utilization of AIDET, and hourly rounding are required for this unit and all nursing units.

This is a high-acuity mixed patient population unit.

It can be fast-paced.

Ratios will vary depending on patient acuity.

Staff must have flexibility and be willing to assist with team RN responsibilities.

First-time travelers are accepted.

Required experience includes managing a patient load of 4-6.

Charting system experience is preferred.

Experience with complex abdominal surgeries such as cholecystectomy and bowel resection is necessary.

ENT surgeries, including thyroidectomy and tracheostomy, are part of the patient population.

Experience with bariatric surgery, including gastric bypass, is needed.

Management of complex wounds, including debridement and skin grafting, is essential.

Expectations include communication utilizing AIDET, and excellent customer service and phone etiquette.

Strong teamwork is needed on this fast-paced unit.

Special equipment includes IV infusion pumps, epidural infusion pumps, feeding tube pumps, and wound vacuums.

Staff members will need to be comfortable floating within the hospital as needed.

Compliance requirements, such as background checks and health screenings, must be completed promptly.
