About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - ICU

Profession : Registered Nurse

Specialty : ICU

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12 Hour Nights

Hours per Shift : 36

Experience : Minimum 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience is preferred. Candidates with 1.5 years of ICU experience excluding travel and significant nursing experience outside of ICU may be considered upon approval. Must have prior travel assignment experience.

License : Registered Nurse (RN)

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (required before arrival)

Must-Have :

• Epic experience
• Comfortability working a 48-hour / week contract
• Experience with complex ICU patients including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
• Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry

Description :

This ICU unit has a mixed patient population.

Patients include complex cases such as ARDS, myocardial infarction, CVA / TIA, COVID-19, post-cardiac catheterization, post-surgical patients, and those with multiple system trauma.

Cardiac experience is preferred but not required.

Fresh open-heart cases will not be accepted unless the traveler is experienced and comfortable with the case.

Patient ratios vary based on acuity, with typical ratios of 1 : 1 to 1 : 3.

Support on the unit includes 1-2 nurse aides per unit and charge nurses overseeing all ICUs.

All charting is done through the Epic system.

Floating is not common but may occur if overstaffed; travelers must confirm comfortability with floating during the interview.

Weekend rotation occurs every other weekend but is not guaranteed.

No time off will be approved during holidays or special events.

Candidates must be comfortable with all aspects of critical care in a fast-paced environment.
