Description

  • ID#C06506B - Attend Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTs) with primary focus of ensuring that parental voice and perspective is heard and understood.
  • Assist parents in understanding the nature of the services provided and their role, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Advocate for the leadership role of the parent on the team. Facilitate Parent Support Groups.
  • Complete all required DMH and Center chart documentation, report writing and correspondence within the mandated time frames. Utilize Collaborative Documentation with clients.
  • Maintain the required productivity level on a consistent basis.
  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Accompany parents to social service agencies, court, school meetings, and other community based services of daily living (laundromat, market, library, etc.) to support parental advocacy and skill development.
  • Support parents in navigating systems (school, special education, social service, child welfare, mental health) involved with their family.
  • Provide linkage to services. Provide information to expand parental understanding of systems / services.
  • Participate in community-based meetings for the purpose of enhancing communication and the sharing of resources and information : e.g. Service Area 2 Council, Service Area Advisory Committee (SAAC), Project SAFE.
  • Must complete DMH 12-week Parent Partner training or equivalent on-site training within first year of employment.
  • Participate in the bi-annual Parent Provider Partnership Conference.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Lived experience of raising a child with involvement of child welfare or juvenile justice department.
  • One (1) year of experience working with children and families and / or participation in their child's mental health services preferred.
  • Must pass Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
  • Valid California Driver's License is required. Must meet guidelines of agency's driving criteria (i.e., Proof of liability insurance, minimal moving violations, driving record free of DUI's or reckless driving in the last 3 years, etc.), and maintain the criteria as per company policy at all times.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking highly preferred.
