Title : Deputy District Attorney – County Court

Salary : $68,071.12 – $108,736.16 annually (depends on experience and qualifications)

Responsibilities
- Intake and prosecute motor vehicle, misdemeanor, and petty offense violations in the 18th Judicial District.
- Manage a docket of traffic and misdemeanor cases, including initial and ongoing case review.
- Ensure case information is properly available to the defense and follows provability standards.
- Coordinate with law-enforcement agencies, negotiate with defense counsel, and meet with witnesses and victims.
- Prepare and argue motions, conduct trial advocacy, and respond to defense objections and court rulings.
Skills, Abilities & Competencies
Extensive knowledge of state statutes, Colorado Criminal Code, Rules of Professional Conduct, Rules of Evidence, and the Colorado Victim Rights Act.Ability to advocate legal and factual scenarios persuasively to judges and jurors.Effectively process and dispose of a high volume of criminal case filings while maintaining equal justice.Rapidly assess case strengths, weaknesses, aggravators, and mitigators to determine just dispositions.React appropriately in court to defense objections, motions, and witness presentations.
Proficiency with software programs applicable to case management and trial support.
Maintain professional relationships with superiors, colleagues, defense attorneys, pro-se defendants, victims, witnesses, judges, court staff, law-enforcement agencies, media, and the public.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Requirements
Graduated from law school as required by Rule 205.1 of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure.
0+ years of litigation experience.Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado.Pass pre-employment testing, including a motor-vehicle record and background check.Possess a valid Class "R" Colorado driver's license or obtain one within two weeks of appointment.Security clearance (fingerprinting and a Colorado Bureau of Investigation background check).Work Environment
Work is split between a standard office environment, attendance at court, response to crime scenes, and meetings inside and outside the office with law enforcement, victims, and witnesses.
