Tuesday-Friday : 6 : 30am - 5 : 00pm - (10 hour days 40 hours per week)

JOB SUMMARY :

Under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse, participates as a member of the OR team in planning, preparing, and producing a safe and effective OR experience for patients undergoing surgery.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION :

Education :

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

No direct reports to this position

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to communicate effectively with staff, peers, physicians and the public. Ability to speak and understand English fluently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Moderate physical effort working in an indoor environment. Moderate sitting and keyboarding. Efforts consisting of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and stooping. Frequently lifting and / or moving up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and moving of a maximum of 50 pounds. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to an emergency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Exposed to bloodborne pathogens, anesthetic gases, sterilizers, electrical and mechanical hazards, confused or combative patients bio-contaminated waste and unpleasant elements. Subject to stressful situations; occasional long or irregular hours.

High School Diploma / GED or better.

Experience

Required

Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Previous work experience in an Ambulatory Surgical facility or acute care setting : Surgical Tech I : prior experience as a surgical tech strongly preferred. Surgical Tech II : at least (3) years of experience as a surgical tech required.

BLS certification required or the ability to obtain within (1) year.

Certification as a Surgical Technologist required

Preferred

Ability to effectively and efficiently make use of time and resources.
