American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in an acute care setting requiring 2 years of ED experience and AZ or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a 24-bed Level 4 Trauma Emergency Department with 4 critical rooms and 1 trauma room
  • Patient population includes cardiac, abdominal pain, minor trauma, respiratory distress, and varying levels of acuity
  • Intake model used for lower acuity patients with flexible RN to patient ratios
  • Nurse : patient ratio is 1 : 4 for general ED and 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 for ICU-level care in the ED
  • Separate triage and psych / seclusion rooms are available; travelers may be required to triage if qualified
  • ED holds are intermixed within the ER; RNs manage their own ED holds
  • All beds have telemetry monitoring; RNs are responsible for reading their own strips
  • Cerner EMR is used
  • 12-hour evening shifts available, including 10a-10p, 11a-11p, 12p-midnight, and 2p-2a
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend (days : Saturday / Sunday, nights : Friday / Saturday)
  • One on-call shift required per 28-day schedule
  • Float between East and West Emergency Departments may be required and generally prescheduled
  • Navy blue scrubs are the required dress code
  • Responsibilities include triage, patient assessments, telemetry monitoring, and responding to critical situations
  • Collaborate daily with a team of charge nurse, house supervisor, MDs, mid-level providers, techs, and paramedics
  • Support for procedures provided by EED Techs and paramedics, including IV initiation, phlebotomy, splinting, and wound care
  • Orientation includes two days of hospital intro and one 12-hour mentor shift in each ED
  • Must work some major holidays with coverage negotiable
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • A minimum of 50-mile residence distance is required for candidates residing in AZ, NV, NE, IA, and MN
  • Driver's license must be provided for consideration

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
  • Current certifications required : ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and either ENPC or PALS
  • Proven skills in conscious sedation, critical thinking, and AMI (acute myocardial infarction) management
  • Must pass facility-specific Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to start
  • Successful completion of sterile technique skills test on first day of orientation
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Candidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
