DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a County Social Services Aide 1, you will conduct entry level responsibilities while working closely with caseworkers and other social service aides to provide in-home services to families with children in which services were deemed to be appropriate. This is an excellent opportunity to engage in one-on-one assistance and communication with families to provide support as they work toward positive goals and outcomes.
Duties include providing assistance in all areas of family life including household budgeting, in-home parenting education, proper hygiene, nutrition, cooking, grocery shopping skills, and general home maintenance. This may also involve assisting with completing various forms or applications. You may be required to transport consumers to supervised visitation and necessary appointments in addition to providing childcare, when necessary. You will be responsible for completing written reports of each appointment with consumers, miscellaneous clerical duties, and participating in meetings with other staff to develop treatment plans and set goals for consumers. You may be required to attend court and provide testimony. Duties may include frequent standing, climbing steps, and walking distances as a normal part of the job. You must be able to climb flights of steps in homes or apartment buildings where no elevators are present. We are looking for someone who is able to manage multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines, and pays close attention to details under a constantly changing work environment.
