Job description

Job Description :

Pay Range : $60hr - $65hr

  • The Teradata Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Teradata database systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • This role requires strong expertise in Teradata and ETL / ELT processes and involves close collaboration with database developers, system administrators, and business analysts to support enterprise data needs.
  • The position focuses on database reliability, performance optimization, security compliance, and scalability.

Experience :

  • The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in database administration, including more than twelve years of overall experience with at least seven years of hands-on experience managing Teradata database environments.

    • Responsibilities :

  • The role includes installing, configuring, and upgrading Teradata database software and related tools, as well as monitoring database health and performance using appropriate monitoring solutions.
  • Responsibilities involve performing routine maintenance tasks such as space management, statistics collection, and system housekeeping.
  • The administrator analyzes and optimizes SQL queries, implements indexing and partitioning strategies, and collaborates with development and data engineering teams to design scalable data models.
  • The position also manages user access, roles, and privileges in alignment with organizational security policies and ensures compliance with data governance standards.
  • Additional responsibilities include monitoring and auditing database activities, designing and implementing backup and recovery strategies, executing recovery operations during system failures, and testing disaster recovery procedures.
  • The role supports capacity planning and system scaling by forecasting storage and compute needs, coordinating with infrastructure teams, and resolving database-related issues.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes is also required.

    • Skills :

  • Strong hands-on experience with Teradata SQL and utilities, proficiency in scripting languages for automation, solid understanding of data modeling, ETL and ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • The role requires strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Experience with cloud-based environments, data governance, data security, data quality, and compliance practices is preferred.

    • Qualification And Education :

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required.
  • Teradata certifications and exposure to DevOps practices, CI / CD pipelines, and Agile or Scrum methodologies are preferred.
