Physician Assistant – Catonsville, MD Area (Major Orthopaedic Organization)
Our client—one of the nation's largest physician-owned orthopaedic groups with 28+ practices and 60+ locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, DC—is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to join its Catonsville, MD team and support a leading Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist.
In this role, the PA will support orthopaedic surgeons in the operating room, deliver high-quality patient care, and help manage both preoperative and postoperative treatment. Working under the guidance of the supervising physician and within state practice guidelines, the PA will play an integral part in developing comprehensive care plans and ensuring continuity of care across the patient journey.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Provide clinical services to patients under the direction of the supervising physician.
- Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical examination, and relevant medical data.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, ECGs, laboratory studies) and identify deviations from normal results.
- Consult with supervising physicians as needed to determine treatment plans.
- Perform therapeutic and procedural tasks such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
- Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and support continuity of care.
- Educate and counsel patients on treatment adherence, health maintenance, development, family planning, and lifestyle considerations.
- Assist surgeons in the operating room according to credentialed privileges at hospitals or surgery centers.
- Conduct preoperative duties in accordance with facility policies.
- Coordinate with surgeons regarding planned anesthesia.
- Document physician orders and ensure appropriate follow-through.
- Provide support to clinical and administrative staff.
- Maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal CAO policies and procedures.
Required Education, Experience & Skills :
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program (required).Active BLS certification (required).Two + years of experience preferred; recent graduates will also be considered.Commitment to ongoing CEUs as required by licensure.Prior experience in Orthopaedic or Primary Care settings preferred.Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records; strong working knowledge of EMR systems.Competency with Windows-based applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
