Director of Technology Solutions
JOB SUMMARY :
The Director of Technology Solutions is responsible for the strategic oversight, delivery, and continuous improvement of all enterprise software platforms used across the legal, administrative, and operational functions of the firm. This includes leadership over mission-critical systems such as Aderant (financial and practice management), NetDocuments (document management), Microsoft 365 (collaboration and productivity suite), and the firm’s growing suite of AI tools and integrations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, the Director will lead a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts and architects. The role requires a balance of strategic vision, operational discipline, and deep technical and business understanding of enterprise legal technology.

Strategic Application Leadership
- Own the lifecycle management, integration strategy, and roadmap for all firmwide applications, ensuring they meet business needs, scale effectively, and remain aligned with industry standards.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, knowledge management,, human resources, marketing, and administrative leadership to prioritize application enhancements, modernization efforts, and new implementations.
- Provide executive-level reporting on application performance, roadmap progress, and emerging technology opportunities.
Team Leadership & Organizational Management
Directly manage a cross-functional technical team including :System Architect
Cloud ArchitectSharePoint DeveloperSecurity AnalystPhone System AdministratorAI Business Analyst / Developer / ConfigurerCoach and mentor team members, fostering continuous professional development and effective cross-collaboration.Ensure staffing, performance management, and career development are executed in alignment with IT and firm objectives.Application Delivery & Support
Oversee delivery and support of key platforms :Aderant (including workflows, reporting, billing, and integrations)
NetDocuments (including AI tools like PatternBuilder MAX)Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)AI technologies for both legal and administrative use casesEnsure high system availability, security, and performance across all platforms.Resolve technical issues when necessary.Governance, Risk & Compliance
Partner with Information Security and Compliance teams to ensure all applications meet firm policies, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.Drive standardization and documentation of governance policies, including change management, access controls, and vendor management.Innovation & Emerging Technology
Evaluate and recommend AI and automation solutions that deliver strategic advantages and improve firm efficiency.Work closely with the AI Business Analyst / Developer / Configurer to integrate intelligent features into legal and operational workflows.Participate in vendor evaluation, proof-of-concept pilots, and user adoption strategies for new technologies.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Past experience in a law firm or legal operations environment.Familiarity with legal AI tools and modern cloud-based integration frameworks.ITIL, PMP, or relevant technology management certifications.Understanding of compliance frameworks relevant to legal practice (e.g., ISO, SOC 2, client audits).REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.10+ years of experience in enterprise IT, with 5+ years in leadership roles managing firmwide applications in a professional services or legal environment.Proven experience managing legal or professional software solutions as well as Microsoft 365 in an enterprise setting. Aderant and Netdocuments experience a plus.Demonstrated success in leading diverse technical teams and managing complex application portfolios.Strong project management skills and ability to drive change in a distributed environment.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.WORKING CONDITIONS :
