SUMMARY : We are seeking a Senior Settlements Accountant for our Auction Settlements Department.
LOCATION : South of Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport, NW corner of W. Airport Freeway (Hwy. 183) and Valley View Lane

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Supervision of assigned auction settlement team members and other settlement accountantsEnsures all auction proceed payments are accurate, timely, properly authorized, and documentedEnsures that accounting entries and processes for settlements are accurate and reconciledResponsible for continuous improvement and innovation in all auction settlement functionsDUTIES :
Lead and train the assigned settlement team membersOrganize the workload of the assigned settlement team membersClose auctions once finalized and book daily journal entriesAssist with the preparation of settlement statements for each consignor for each venueVerify consignor statements for accuracy and reviews sales reporting prior to making paymentsCalculate, enter, and review miscellaneous adjustmentsDeduct customer accounts receivable from auction proceeds according to standard operating procedureVerify and change payee names as needed per authorized proceeds directivesPrepare preliminary auction settlement statementsMust be able to multi-task and maintain auction records at various stages of completion simultaneously for various auction categoriesPerform final accounts receivable review, balance the prices realized, prepare the check batch, verify checks posted fees, note the Auction Summary Report, and print auction settlement checksPost wires daily to the general ledger and assist with wire reconciliationsAssist with booking advance payments, fees, and providing interest calculations as necessaryAssist with providing documentation and research month-end close tasksBook accounting entries for adjustments, refunds, changes and corrections as necessaryFollow up on requests to provide research, resolutions, and process documentationAssist with audit tasks and accounting projectsWork on design and implementation for new ERP systemRequirements :
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a business field, preferably Accounting; 2+ years’ experience in Accounts Payable or Accounting preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Have excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and writtenKeen attention to detailBe highly proactive with a positive attitudehave the capacity to handle heavy workloads and the ability to prioritize unexpected high-importance requestsExperience with an ERP system is preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including :Word : document formatting, templates, and mail mergeExcel : spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups, data reporting, and analysisOutlook : calendar management, task coordination, and handling high-volume correspondencePHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS : To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, looking at a computer monitor, and phone handling for approximately 3-8 hours on a daily basis.
