The nurse will specialize in administering chemotherapy and supporting patients with palliative care and end-of-life needs. Candidates will likely orient on day shift. Floating to other medical / surgical units may be required. The unit comprises a 32-bed oncology telemetry unit. Daily census is approximately 28 patients. The nurse could care for COVID patients. Tobacco and fragrance-free environment. Max request time off is seven days. Weekend coverage required every other week. Call requirements do not apply. Daily patient ratios are expected to be 5 : 1 during night shifts. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams including IV, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Social Services, and Pharmacy. Specialized procedures include care related to chemo ports. Strong knowledge in areas such as neutropenic precautions, extravasation injury management, and symptoms management is essential.
