We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is passionate about leading a team pushing the capabilities of our public‑facing websites.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of frontend and full‑stack engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence.
- Oversee the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and engineering standards.
- Be hands‑on and provide input to software architecture, design, and optimisation of scalable full‑stack software solutions, including developing technical strategy and roadmap for our internal systems like our CMS, tooling, open source software, deployment strategy, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate across the organization and consistently interface with product, design, UX, marketing and other technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Develop and refine processes and tools to improve team performance, quality‑of‑life, as well as product performance and quality. Leverage and evangelise the use of AI tooling to improve engineering velocity and quality, where appropriate.
- Career coaching including performance assessment and career development.
Qualifications
6+ years of software development experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or equivalent role.Strong hands‑on experience with Javascript, Typescript, or Go. Experience with React.js, Next.js and Node.js will go a long way in this role.Experience with foundational backend and infrastructure technologies, like PostgreSQL, Nginx, CI / CD and Kubernetes.Solid understanding of full‑stack architecture, performance optimisation, and scalability principles within an Enterprise‑class software system.Able to make effective trade‑offs in regards to both engineering and product requirements, while balancing short‑term and long‑term needs.Experience developing cross‑disciplinary collaboration between engineering, operations, support, and product groups.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring software engineers.Experience with staffing, interviewing, building, and retaining teams.Experience conveying complex ideas in written, verbal and presentational formats to get buy‑ins from diverse stakeholders.Prior experience leveraging AI tooling to augment productivity and evangelising their use for engineering teams.Ideal candidates have experience in networking and internet engineering best practices.Compensation
