Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in a Level II trauma center with Epic EMR and evening shift requirements.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
  • Level II trauma center with 11 rooms, including 2 trauma rooms and 3 fast track rooms
  • Average 58 ED patients per day across all Emergency Severity Index (ESI) levels
  • Phillips monitors used for cardiac monitoring; RNs read their own strips
  • Epic EMR system is used and prior experience is strongly preferred
  • Work 12-hour evening shifts, 3p-3a, three days a week
  • Requires working every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and every other holiday
  • No floating to other units, but may assist with unit-wide needs or respond to codes or rapid response
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including ED physicians and mid-levels on site
  • Orientation includes at least one shift, with additional support provided as needed
  • Nurse aides, EMTs, and paramedics assist with patient care; typical ratio is 1 : 10
  • Respiratory Therapy is available 24 / 7 to perform ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
  • Any color scrubs may be worn according to dress code
  • No COVID-19 vaccine required for consideration
  • Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles are eligible but local rates will apply

  • Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ER / ED nursing experience required
  • Current certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS, AHA) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS, AHA) required
  • Experience with Epic EMR required
  • Able to work all assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
