Overview
PROtect, LLC is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as a Lead Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation (EMM) Technician . The Lead Technician plays a key role in field operations, overseeing Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation programs designed to minimize fugitive VOC and HAP emissions in compliance with EPA standards. The Lead Technician will supervise and train EMM Apprentices and Level II Technicians in the field, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. This role will work closely with site management and project leadership to plan, execute, and document LDAR activities and other compliance-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Report all incidents, injuries, near misses, motor vehicle incidents, or any unsafe condition or act to the supervisor and the Safety Department, regardless of severity.
- Monitor components in an industrial environment to detect emissions from process equipment using a portable analyzer and electronic data collector.
- Lead a small team to perform monitoring activities for an assigned route within allocated time; ensure all leak interfaces are monitored and reported. Average monitoring rate on a route : 250–300 components per day.
- Manage team competency in FID / PID analyzer use and basic tablet usage and troubleshooting.
- Advance the team's ability to learn, read, and understand P&IDs.
- Calibrate equipment to ensure optimum performance; make minor mechanical adjustments as needed and develop an advanced understanding of calibration regulatory requirements, equipment, gas management, and repair of equipment.
- Participate in portions of large Client Launch and Audit Projects as required.
- Ensure the team completes daily uploads of monitoring activity to the customer database and prepares daily emissions monitoring reports; basic computer skills required.
- Review colleagues' work to identify gaps and provide guidance; perform LDAR audits as needed.
- Communicate daily leaks or potential issues with site operations and maintenance personnel; coordinate with all levels of plant personnel.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.Greater than 5 years of related experience and / or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Basic PC skills with emphasis on MS Office (Word, Excel).Strong experience in chemical plants or refineries; basic knowledge in 3–5 industries. Expanded knowledge of 20+ subjects / reports / regulations; subject-matter expert tendencies in a couple areas.Strong communication, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrates initiative, planning work, and carrying out tasks without detailed instructions; able to propose improvements and take on additional responsibilities.Ability to analyze data, evaluate situations, and identify problems or opportunities and likely causes.Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Safety-oriented attitude and willingness to don respiratory protection equipment for extended periods.Reliable transportation; willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and periodic out-of-town travel as needed.Working conditions : may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme weather, and physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing heights up to 300 ft, stairs, etc.). Opportunity to work around moving mechanical parts; potential hazards include electrical shock, explosives, and vibration.
