weekends, holidays, evenings, or nights except for on‐call hours. Mileage for home visits is reimbursed at $0.69 per mile.
Job Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive respiratory care and patient education in both the office and home settings as needed
Conduct clinical assessments for patients receiving oxygen therapy, including pulse oximetry and evaluation of equipment needs
Coordinate travel accommodations for patients who require portable oxygen, ensuring continuity of care and safety during transit
Educate patients, caregivers, and families on the proper use, safety, and maintenance of respiratory equipment such as oxygen systems, CPAP / BiPAP devices, nebulizers, suction equipment, and oximeters
Perform respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with physician orders and established clinical guidelines
Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient education in a timely manner to meet regulatory and agency standards
Act as a clinical resource for other team members and departments, providing expertise and support for complex respiratory care needs
Assist in training and orientation of new staff and students to ensure safe and consistent clinical practices
Participate in continuing education activities to maintain professional licensure and stay current with best practices in respiratory care
Support the development and delivery of patient care programs and participate in community outreach efforts
Contribute to the review and development of departmental policies, procedures, and clinical workflows
Promote patient satisfaction by delivering high‐quality care and maintaining open communication with patients, caregivers, and referral sources
Position Qualifications
Minimum Required :
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Current New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
CPR certification within 3 months of hire
Preferred :
Experience working with durable medical equipment (DME) in a patient‐care setting
2 years of home care experience
Work Environment
Employee works in close quarters with co‐workers and in patients' homes, where a variety of situations can exist. This individual accesses patients in their individual homes, as well as in health care facilities such as hospitals. Gloves, masks and gowns are worn, per body fluid precautions, as needed.
