Plant Engineer
Pay rate up to $160k+ bonus
Position Overview
The Plant Engineer is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations. This position drives strategic project planning and execution to support current and future capital investments (CAPEX), while implementing best practices across installation, qualification, risk management, preventive maintenance, spare parts inventory, and asset management systems.
The role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams—including Production, Quality, Logistics, Supply Chain, HR, and other support departments—throughout the lifecycle of equipment and facility projects. It also manages departmental budgets and ensures all CAPEX and expense projects meet defined scope, timelines, and financial targets. Key performance indicators (KPIs) are used to monitor and improve equipment reliability and CAPEX performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering and maintenance functions to ensure optimal performance and reliability of plant assets.
- Develop and execute CAPEX plans aligned with production, safety, quality, and environmental goals.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and work order systems using CMMS.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors during equipment design, installation, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, ISO standards, and safety protocols.
- Conduct root cause analysis, CAPA, and troubleshooting for equipment and process issues.
- Develop SOPs for equipment operation, maintenance schedules, and predictive analysis.
- Coordinate new product and equipment implementation, including testing and validation.
- Lead vendor selection and bid review processes.
- Hire, train, and evaluate team members to build a high-performing workforce.
- Provide technical support for budget planning and project execution.
- Maintain ISO 9001, 14001, 45000, and FSSC 22000 documentation standards.
- Foster a positive work environment and ensure team alignment with plant objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field7+ years in manufacturing or construction environmentsPreferred : Experience in aseptic or powder manufacturing7+ years working with mechanical and electrical systems5+ years in a supervisory or team leadership roleSkills & Knowledge
Strong project and resource planning, budgeting, and risk management skillsAdvanced mechanical and electrical expertise; PLC knowledge preferredFamiliarity with GMPs and SOPsExperience validating manufacturing equipment and processesAbility to translate technical concepts into practical applicationsStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsProficiency in data analysis and reportingFlexibility to work varied schedules, be on-call, and travel as neededPositive, proactive attitudeWorking Conditions
Operates in a food manufacturing environment with strict adherence to GMP, food safety, and workplace safety standardsRequires use of personal protective equipment and compliance with all safety procedures and ISO standardsPhysical Requirements
Ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally maneuver heavier items with assistanceMust be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull on concrete floorsUse of computers, phones, calculators, hand tools, and measuring devices required
