The Divided Sky Foundation is an abstinence-based 12 Step residential recovery program located in Ludlow, Vermont. Our mission is to provide educational and introspective programming to foster a sober and productive foundation for individuals affected by addiction. By offering a diverse collection of strategies and approaches to recovery anchored in the 12 Steps, emotional sobriety, and mindfulness we will support individuals to construct and utilize the tools necessary to thrive in long-term recovery.
General Description
The Intake Specialist / Recovery Assistant (RA) Support provides direct support to the admissions and intake process for prospective and incoming guests, paving the way for a smooth transition into the Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program (DSRRP). As one of the initial points of contact for the DSRRP, this individual plays a pivotal role in ensuring that each guest is welcomed with compassion and care, sharing program expectations and guidelines for their stay. This may include conducting initial phone screenings to share with the admissions coordinator, handling the physical intake process for new guests, providing backup, as needed, to the Admissions and Intake Coordinator, and supporting the discharge process.
In addition, the Intake Specialist / RA Support will provide support, as needed, for the RA team. In this role, they will facilitate and monitor daily routines of residential programming and living for our guests. The duties include providing emotional support and a safe environment for individuals in our community, supporting the rest of the team through participation in our processes and systems, keeping up with the cleanliness of the facility, and otherwise providing boots on the ground support as needed in our 24 / 7 program. They should set an example of a strong recovery with an ability to empathize and perform stable boundaries. This is a boots-on-the-ground and fast-paced job that requires a great deal of time on your feet, climbing stairs, and moving around the facility.
Intake and Admissions Accountabilities
- Follow established procedures to prescreen prospective guests and share results with Admissions and Intake Coordinator
- Update CRM database
- Welcome new guests following intake protocols. Complete all intake forms on admission of all guests, including orientation form, and initial searches of belongings.
- Provide a complete and comprehensive orientation for new guests to rules, handbook, expectations, programming, and areas needed for assistance upon arrival. Communicate to RA team if backup
- Ensure that all RA staff are trained on current intake processes and procedures.
- Share guest details from intake with the on-site team using appropriate communication channels, as necessary.
- Compile weekly census and intake data and share to established distribution list.
- Provide backup support to Admissions and Intake Coordinator as needed including handling admissions calls; absence coverage; and maintaining CRM database.
- Assist with discharge process as needed.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Recovery Assistant Accountabilities
Administer Urine Analysis (UA); accurately complete information in the system.Provide oversight to guests during housekeeping, meal service, and daily activities.Organize and facilitate specific recreation, physical fitness, and appropriate leisure activities for both inside and outside of the facility.Supervise guests during off-property events, activities, or volunteer work.Assist guests in crisis situations involving social, emotional, health, and other problems.Conduct periodic guest room checks with the development of a corrective action plan if needed.Identify verbal and non-verbal cues for potential aggressive behavior and apply de-escalation techniques.Maintain detailed notes during the shift and complete the appropriate reports promptlyOversee guests' recreational activities, and transport clients to A.A. meetings, medical appointments, and other functions as requested by supervisor.Provide mentoring to guests with appropriate program-centric guidance for solutions.With experience and training, co-facilitate educational groups and recovery programming.Support guests in their departures following discharge protocols.Complete guest departure forms and supervise and assist with gathering their belongings.Other duties may be assigned.Core Values- Promote and adhere to the workplace values of kindness, teamwork, empathy, integrity, excellence and mission.
Education, Experience, Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; credentialed in the field of substance use prevention / addiction / recovery is preferred.Lived experience in, or an understanding of recovery is strongly preferred (we ask that applicants in direct guest-facing roles who identify as being in recovery maintain at least one year of sobriety before applying).Experience and training in the addiction and recovery field, residential programming, or mental health treatment is strongly preferred.Ability to work with individuals in various stages of sobriety and adapt to their needsKnowledge of addiction and recovery in relation to the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.Demonstrate skills in supervision, planning, and guiding others in recovery from addictions.Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately is required.Strong organizational and time management skills.Vermont Recovery Coach Certification (CRC), CCAR RCA (Recovery Coach Academy), is a bonus.Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required.Experience working with a CRM system is a plus.A good sense of humor is a bonus.Must have or be able to obtain current First Aid and CPR card (company provided where needed).Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
