Job Summary / Description :

WVLT Channel 8 is seeking a dynamic Multimedia journalist to join our newsroom. The ideal candidate must be able to produce compelling newscasts and memorable stories, thrive on breaking news, and not be afraid to show some personality too. Candidates must have excellent communication skills both on the air and in the newsroom. Someone who can handle breaking news situations on the air is a must. Also, one must possess a creative vision for what it takes to anchor a morning newscast.

Duties / Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) :

• Works with producer, news director, and assignment desk to plan daily live shots and weekend newscasts
• Must have excellent news judgment and journalism ethics
• Must have strong writing, storytelling, and reporting skills
• Must have strong producing skills (create a newscast rundown, write stories, build graphics, and coordinate with control room and field crews)
• Must be skilled in social media and online news production
• Must possess good organizational and time management skills
• Must have the ability to shoot and edit your own stories and the ability to go live
• Excellent live reporting skills required, ability to ad-lib during breaking news
• Must be someone who can enterprise great ideas, keep up with trending and timely topics, and be a team player
• Ability to fill other shifts as required, including holidays and weekends
