Substitute Teachers (18+ per hour)

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently accepting Substitute Teacher applications for the 2025 -2026 school Educator is responsible for implementing lesson plans and maintaining classroom order in the absence of the regular educator (teacher). This role ensures continuity in student learning and upholds school policies and procedures.

Performance Responsibilities :

• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to facilitate classroom instruction.
• Maintain a safe respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
• Manage student behavior and enforce classroom rules.
• Take attendance and report any issues or incidents to school administration.
• Leave a summary of the days activities for the returning educator.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students when necessary.
• Supervise students in classrooms hallways cafeterias and other school settings as needed.
• Uphold school rules administrative procedures and board policies.

2025 - 2026 Pay Schedule :

Dorchester County Public Schools does participate in the Maryland Healthy Working Families Maryland Healthy Working Families Act (MHWFA) requires Dorchester County Public Schools to provide one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours that an employee works subject to the provisions of the Act. The paid sick leave is paid out each month during the school year.
