The Senior Customer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in managing incoming billing and eligibility inquiries while serving as the primary contact for customer questions. In this position, you will provide exceptional expertise and support to members, customers, and providers while interacting primarily over the phone.

This is a full-time role (40 hours / week), requiring flexibility to work any shift within our 24 / 7 operation, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime when necessary.

We provide 8-12 weeks of paid training, which is mandatory. Training hours will be from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM EST, Monday through Friday, conducted virtually from your home.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deliver quality customer service for internal and external clients.
  • Respond promptly to customer service requests via phone, email, and chat.
  • Conduct follow-up calls to provide resolution on customer inquiries as needed.
  • Quickly assess and identify customers' needs with accuracy.
  • Systematically resolve problems by applying sound business judgment.
  • Collaborate with billing and eligibility department representatives to address complex inquiries.
  • Monitor delegated issues to ensure timely and precise resolution.
  • Utilize effective communication techniques with customers, particularly in stressful scenarios.
  • Educate new customers on billing and payment procedures.
  • Handle member terminations (e.g., phone disenrollment).
  • Proficiently use eligibility, billing, and receivable systems and related applications.
  • Engage in special projects as required.

Required Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • 4+ years of customer service experience focused on analyzing and solving problems.
  • 2+ years of experience with basic Windows applications and the ability to learn complex systems.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Japanese.
  • Willingness to work any shift in a 24 / 7 operation, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of experience in a call center customer service role.
  • Familiarity with ISET.
  • Telecommuting Requirements :

  • Ability to maintain security for sensitive company documents.
  • Must have a dedicated workspace that ensures privacy from other living spaces.
  • Able to receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or utilize existing high-speed service.
  • All remote employees must adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

    Compensation is dependent on various factors, including labor market conditions, education, experience, and certifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, incentives, equity stock options, and a 401k plan, all subject to eligibility requirements. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $17.74 to $31.63 based on full-time employment. We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
