A boutique commercial property management firm where smart, proactive people thrive is adding a real estate bookkeeper to its team in New Rochelle, NY. The real estate bookkeeper will play a critical role in daily accounting operations, partnering closely with leadership to keep property finances accurate, organized, and moving forward. This position owns accounts payable and receivable, rent application, vendor billing, and financial tracking across a diverse portfolio of commercial assets. The right candidate is sharp, detail-obsessed, and energized by taking initiative. Salary Range : $70,000 - $95,000 / Year DOE
Real Estate Bookkeeper Responsibilities :
- Manage daily accounting functions, including AP and AR
- Enter invoices, code expenses accurately, and maintain the chart of accounts
- Reconcile and post rent payments by tenant, property, and month
- Monitor utility bills and ensure correct billing for vacant tenant spaces
- Support annual and quarterly financial cycles, including tax and insurance responsibilities
- Assist with tenant bill-backs, permits, and regulatory payments
- Track spend and support budget monitoring for each property
- Maintain organized documentation within QuickBooks and Microsoft 365
- Help strengthen operational systems through new process adoption and automation
- Support the office with tenant-facing tasks, calls, and occasional tech needs
Real Estate Bookkeeper Requirements :
5+ years of bookkeeping experience, including AP / AR ownershipAt least 1 year of experience in commercial or residential property managementAdvanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data manipulationQuickBooks and Outlook proficiencyHighly organized, strong common sense, and high attention to detailConfident communicator with the initiative to self-direct and problem-solveAbility to work onsite 5 days per week and support occasional tenant needsTech-savvy and comfortable learning new toolsExperience improving systems, workflows, or automation preferredComfort supporting a website or light marketing projects preferredBenefits :
