Job Description :
We are looking for a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Propulsion and Commissioning Engineer to support Ford's propulsion development programs in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, commissioning, and maintaining HIL test benches that simulate real vehicle propulsion systems such as internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains, and electric drivetrains.
The main purpose of this role is to ensure that propulsion software and hardware can be tested safely and accurately in a simulated lab environment before going into a real vehicle. This helps save time, reduce costs, and improve product reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build HIL benches that mimic Ford's propulsion systems.
- Commission new HIL setups by configuring hardware, wiring, and software connections.
- Run tests to validate different propulsion features (engine controls, transmission, hybrid systems, battery systems).
- Troubleshoot and fix issues in hardware / software integration.
- Support Ford engineers by providing accurate test data and reporting results.
- Maintain and upgrade test systems as new propulsion technologies are introduced.
- Work closely with Ford's cross-functional teams (software, controls, wiring, calibration, and suppliers) to ensure successful validation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (Master's preferred).Hands-on experience with HIL systems (such as dSPACE or NI systems).Knowledge of propulsion systems – internal combustion, hybrid, or electric.Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink or similar modeling tools.Good problem-solving, debugging, and teamwork skills.Senioriy level
