Job Description

The Receiving Department off loads plant material inventory from our transfer trucks or outside vendors. They inspect plant material received, prepare it for stocking and in most cases assist with stocking the plant material to the correct location in the nursery.

Essential Functions :

• Offloads plant material in various and all sizes at the receiving dock. Uses Team lift techniques to ensure safety and notifies Receiving Supervisor if there are equipment issues or supplies that need to be replenished.
• Check plant material received per the purchase order and marks items not received on bill of lading or on Latitude handheld device. Before posting received material, cross check and notate discrepancies.
• Check plant species / variety and size to ensure it is what was ordered.
• Works with the Quality Control lead to ensure the health of the plant material is adequate. Notifies the buying department of poor quality so it can be sent back to vendor.
• Assign cones (different colors for various locations) to plant material that will be transferred to other locations.
• Ensure plant material arriving from Southern CA or Oregon is moved to inspection area before being stocked.
• Prepares plant material for stocking (watering, setting aside for quarantine, etc.)
• Stocks plants to correct location in nursery.
• General care for the nursery grounds, keeping the nursery clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.
• General care for nursery stock (plants), ensures plants are watered, handled with care, and are placed in the appropriate location.

Job Specifications :

Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions on uneven ground surfaces. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (standing) more than 50-90% of the time. When stocking plants, bending at the waist, twisting, turning, and squatting is required. Ability to climb into vendor trucks without the loading dock.

Lifting requirements : Up to 50 lbs. 75% of the time. Up to 100-225 lbs. 25% of the time (team lift required with 2-4 people).

Hand movement : Gross grasping for lifting and moving plant material.

M-F 6 : 30am-3 : 30pm, occasional Sat / Sun
