We want your knowledge and expertise!\nJob Summary and Qualifications\n\nSchedule : PRN, looking for 2-6 shifts per pay period. Bi-weekly.\n\nCall : Weekend and holiday call required, can be discussed.\n\nThe CVOR at Mission Hospital in Asheville is a fast paced, efficient operating room. One of the busiest in the Southeast and performs the most surgeries, per surgeon, of any hospital in the state. It is a 6-room operating suite (included in that is 1 Hybrid room) with four surgeons operating. We perform Open-Heart procedures such as; CABG, Aortic Valve Replacement, Mitral Valve Repair / Replace, Tricuspid Valve Repair, Dissections, Tavr's, etc. We also perform Thoracic Surgeries (Lung). We do not perform transplants, robotic, or pediatric surgery.\n\nPosition Details : \n
• Self / preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your schedule\n
• Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff\n
• Continuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating Room\n
• Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvement\n
• On-call is required during select non-business hours\n\nWhat you will do in this role : \n
• Evaluate patients prior to surgery\n
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process\n
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification\n
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy\n
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies\n
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives\n
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more\n
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients\n
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly\n
• Educate patients and families / caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures\n\nWhat qualifications you will need : \n
• Required Experience : 1+ years of CVOR nursing experience\n
• Required Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program and obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire date into RN position. RNs with 10 years or more of experience are exempt.\n
• Preferred Education : Master's in Nursing.\n
• Preferred Certification : National Certification in area of specialty\n
• Required License : Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON\n
