Job Summary
8 Long is a fast-paced 35‑bed medical‑surgical Neuroscience unit that serves adult acute‑care patients. Ten of the 35 beds are equipped to care for hard‑wired continuous epilepsy monitoring patients, including intracranial grid placement. UCSF Neurology and Neurosurgery rank #2 in the nation and best in California by the U.S. News & World Report 2023‑2024 and are a comprehensive stroke center.
The incumbent will oversee around 80 FTEs with a $15 million operational budget supporting over five neuroscience service lines. Strong hospital management / leadership, fiscal and operations management skills in a complex academic medical center are essential for this role.
NOTE : this position is eligible for a sign‑on bonus of up to $20,000.00. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
The salary range for this position is $253,900 – $269,400 (Annual Rate).
Department Description
The Neurology / Neurosurgery unit is a state‑of‑the‑art medical‑surgical Neuroscience unit that excels in offering exciting interventions for rapidly growing services including neurology, neurosurgery and neuro‑interventional radiology.
As a joint commission comprehensive stroke center, current and progressive stroke treatment options are available to patients. Five beds are dedicated to the Northern California Epilepsy Program where patients with uncontrolled seizures are monitored to determine the best treatment options.
Through this unit’s councils, shared decision‑making has empowered nurse‑driven initiatives surrounding quality & safety in patient care, professional development of staff and patient education & satisfaction. Abundant disease‑specific education is offered to nurses throughout the year by a variety of members of the interdisciplinary team.
