Position Overview
We are adding Project Engineers to our Central Division of Kiewit to support our growing Infrastructure project portfolio around the country. You could be supporting major highway infrastructure projects, bridge projects, rail / transit, aviation, water / wastewater and power. Our Central teams are the first construction team to the site, performing site prep for the roads, bridges or industrial buildings. Our team performs mass grading / excavation, cut and fill, drainage, paving, underground piping and utility work, earthwork, site development, concrete form work, asphalt paving, and related activities.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the administrative and technical aspects of constructing a project, managing a team of field and cost engineers. In this role, you will be the main conduit of information between the Project or Construction Manager and the team for cost, revenue, cash flow information; and therefore, requires strong interpersonal and time management skills. Project Engineers may work as the Project Manager on some of our smaller projects and will be expected to develop the team below them.

District Overview
Kiewit’s Central District is one of our largest infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete / bridge, water / wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more - so be ready to get your hands dirty! While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Central and South-Central regions of the United States. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry rather than design.
Location
Project Engineers for our Central district will support projects in the Rocky Mountain region, based in Lone Tree / Denver Colorado. You will primarily support projects in the Denver area, but may support projects in other nearby states (MO, MT, NM, KS, IA, MN, WY, ND and SD). While on projects outside if the immediate Denver area, you are provided per diem and trips home.
Responsibilities
With regard to that portion of your work assigned, develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
Examine / inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
Inspect subordinates’ work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.
Manage document control; receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents; maintain document control log.
Review new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes and review with supervisor; distribute new issues to field.
Prepare monthly cost projections using information generated from project management systems and prepare quarterly cash flow projections.
Improve project operations by recommending, as appropriate, better methods, staffing and procedural changes.
Act as managing project engineer / coordinator on multiple projects, providing supervision and on-the-job training for more junior level field engineers.
Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
Manage and support project team including direct reports and others as needed
Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.

Other Requirements :
Base Compensation : $116,000 / yr - $121,000 / yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and / or location)
