Job Summary
The Staff Engineer – Subsea Controls will support operation and development projects primarily in the offshore business unit applying engineering principles to analyze, design, and diagnose subsea control systems. They will support facilities, operations, and production teams with optimization opportunities for ongoing operation, new field developments and tiebacks to host facilities. They will also support subsea projects and activities offshore and will work with a range of service companies to support design, operation, and maintenance of subsea assets.
The Staff Engineer – Subsea Controls will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
- Provides asset surveillance on a day-to-day basis using available real time data streams.
- Undertakes responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support, design calculations, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various third-party submissions.
- Develops and maintains Subsea Control System requirements including policies, procedures, specifications, and practices.
- Develops and manages inspection, testing and maintenance programs to complete integrity assessments.
- Manages contracts with Subsea Control vendors and third-party service providers.
- Assesses the effect of any process or equipment changes on system integrity, and makes recommendations to ensure the ongoing integrity of Subsea Control Systems
- Ensures proper monitoring and operation including integrity management and maintenance of related SURF equipment not limited to topside located subsea hardware (SPCU, SDPU, HPU, MVP, TUTUs), all chemical, hydraulic, and electrical distribution to the Subsea Production Systems, trees, manifold, and jumpers.
- Manages control system planned and unplanned maintenance and intervention, including sparing philosophies and inventory management.
- Manages Subsea Leak Detection system
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineeringMinimum 7 years’ experience in production operations, subsea controls design and operations, Instrumentation and controls, and exposure to process facilities operationsProficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPointDeepwater offshore production experience requiredPeriodic travel offshore and to vendor sites requiredDesired / Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge in Deepwater offshore operation and exposure to Aker and FMC systemsStrong safety mentality.Strong communication skills with experience working in a multi-discipline environment.Possesses a collaborative nature and actively participates in teams; actively seeks continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and procedures.Ability to analyze, understand and communicate general business / company informationAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.Well performance assessment, operational safety assessment, project scheduling, and system hydraulics solutions.Strong interpersonal and analytical skills and the ability to work with internal and external contacts.Possesses a sense of urgency and priority when it comes to operations supportLI-Hybrid
