JOB DESCRIPTION : Tompkins Cortland Community College is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable faculty member to lead the work of the College in Nanotechnology. Building on the College micro credential and new, $650,000 lab, the goal of this position is to develop new curriculum, an AAS and / or AS, degree programs and associated coursework in Nanotechnology for SUNY and State approval and to teach these new curricula. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nanoscience, materials science, physical chemistry, or a related field, and a passion for student success in a community college setting. This position involves teaching, curriculum development, student advising, and collaboration with industry partners to ensure workforce relevance. The successful candidate will receive a 50% reduced teaching load in their first year to build the new program(s).
This position is within the Faculty Association Union. Candidates must currently reside or be willing to relocate to New York State at time of employment. Additionally, maintaining New York State residency will be required for the duration of employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Master’s degree in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a closely related field. Experience with nanofabrication tools and characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, AFM, spectroscopy). Commitment student-centered teaching.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level (community college experience preferred). Industry experience in nanotechnology or related sectors. Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes. Familiarity with grant writing and managing funded projects. Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE : $66,177-$113,545. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
